SUMMARY :- The poet shows the indifference of the girls with her father and love with her grandmother. The poet shows the class differentiation between rich and poor.He tells about the poor people'sbasic needs and desires.He described the treatment of Children in Victorian Society.
He gives a message and lesson to help the poor especially to the rich.

1.EXTRACT- Most terridly cold....
i)That was the last evening of the year.The weather was cold,snow was falling and sky filled with darkness.
ii)As they were of here mother and were to big to fit her feet.
iii).she was wearing slippers of her mother. She was walking through the streets to sell match sticks on a cold evening. She was hungry and was wearing a old apron.
iv)To sell matches.The fear of being bitten by her father prevented her to go home.
v)as it revolves around the girl.The match refers to act of selling matches.It symbolises hope and warmth.
2.SO THE LITTLE MAIDEN.....
i)The poor girl.While escapeing from a 2 carriages driven terribly fast.One could notbe found and other was taken by a boy.
ii)To sell themand return home with money.
iii)as she was poor and not taken care by her father. She was hungry and was shivering due to cold.
iv)The hallucination of roast goose.
v)Teach us to help the poor especiallythe rich to donate the poor during the festival and throughout the year.
3.Her little feet ........
i)A corner between 2 houses.By lighting a match stick.
ii)After lighting the match .As of the feeling of warmth .
iii)A not good relationship. As she preferred to stay out instead of going home.
iv)Shows class differentiation of Victoriana Era.
v)The poor girl was sent to sell match sticks on a cold evening by her father.
4.SHE RUBBED AGAINST. ...
i)she felt as if she was sitting by a iron stove.
ii)she saw roast goose ,a table with food.
iii)As she only saw visions of her basic needs. She finds hope in her grandmother and asked her to take her with her.
iv)warmth, love,hope.
v)To not let her grandmother go .
5.But in the corner.....
i)The poor girl.As she saw her grandmother she was smiling as she was finally free from her sorrows after her death.
ii)The visions she had(describe them).
By lighting the matches.
iii)a very strong relationships. She missed her so much.
iv)She found hope in her grandmother.The death of her brought an end to her struggle as she was smiling.
